How to apply Static Cling window film

Step 1

Before installation, ensure the glass is clean and free from dust and contaminants. The glass should be cleaned before installation with a solvent ideally methylated spirits.

Using a dry cloth apply some to the methylated spirits and wipe the window thoroughly. Once you have cleaned the window, ensure that the solvent has dried before installation. Make sure the cleaning product doesn’t come into contact with the static cling material before fitting. Solvents can remove the ink from the surface of the cling.

Step 2

Folded paperPeel the static cling away from the release liner. If you wish to reuse the cling material at a later date, then please keep the silicone liner.
Your graphics can be laid back on the liner for storage so you can use them at a later date.

Step 5

Place graphic gently on the window by hand.

Step 6

Level and slide into position. Re-lift where necessary and remove creases. Once the graphic is laid flat on the glass, give the decal another spray over. Spraying the cling will help lubricate the surface when squeegeeing the water out.

Step 7

Using a squeegee or similar working from the centre squeeze the liquid from the film.

Step 8

Wipe any excess water from the window.

Smaller graphics can be applied to the glass by hand smoothing down from end to end by hand, lifting and rubbing out any air bubbles. Your static cling has now been successfully installed.

The graphics are not be used in extreme light and heat conditions. Decals that are in direct sunlight for prolonged will deteriorate. These circumstances, the solvents in the inks can adhere to the window, which will ruin the graphics. If this happens to remove the ink from the windows, a solvent cleaner or methylated spirits will remove the ink residue.
