Banner World produces high-quality printed hoarding boards using durable aluminium composite panels measuring 1220 × 2440 mm (8 × 4 ft). These rigid panels are designed for long-term outdoor use and can be easily fixed to timber or metal hoarding structures.

Our complete service includes design support, high-resolution printing and nationwide delivery, working with developers, construction companies and marketing agencies to create professional site branding.

Construction hoarding is often required to comply with local planning and safety regulations. Guidance can be found through Health and Safety Executive construction safety guidelines.

Hoarding Board Printing for Construction Sites

Construction hoarding boards are widely used on building and development projects to create secure site boundaries while also providing valuable advertising space. High-quality hoarding board printing allows developers and contractors to promote new developments, display branding and communicate project information to the public.

Banner World specialises in hoarding board printing for construction sites across the UK, producing durable aluminium composite panels designed for long-term outdoor installation. These rigid boards are easy to install onto timber hoarding frames and create large continuous displays around site perimeters.

What Are Printed Hoarding Boards?

Construction hoarding boards are protective panels installed around building sites and renovation projects. Their primary purpose is to secure the site perimeter and protect the public while also providing a large advertising surface for project branding.

Printed hoarding boards are typically mounted onto timber hoarding frames or steel structures and can be customised with project information, marketing graphics or promotional messages.

Standard Hoarding Board Sizes

The most common hoarding panel size used across the UK construction industry is:

  • 2440 × 1220 mm (8 × 4 ft)

These hoarding board printing standard sheets allow easy installation onto timber hoarding frames and can be combined together to create large continuous advertising displays along construction site boundaries.

Aluminium Composite Hoarding Panels

Our hoarding boards are manufactured from aluminium composite (ACP) panels, sometimes referred to as Dibond-style boards. This material provides the ideal balance of strength, durability and lightweight handling.

Aluminium composite panels are widely used for construction hoarding because they are weather-resistant, rigid and capable of supporting vibrant full-colour printed graphics.

Hoarding Boards for Advertising and Site Protection

Construction hoardings serve two important purposes: protecting the public and promoting the project. Large hoarding board printing transforms temporary site barriers into high-impact advertising displays that promote developments and attract interest from passers-by.

These panels are widely used on:

  • Property development sites
  • Commercial construction projects
  • Retail developments
  • Urban regeneration projects
  • Temporary event hoarding

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials are used for hoarding boards?

Our hoarding boards are made from high-quality aluminium composite material (ACM), which consists of a lightweight polyethylene core sandwiched between two aluminium faces. This makes the boards durable, weather-resistant, and rust-proof, perfect for outdoor use. We also offer PVC foam panels as an alternative for short-term or indoor projects.

What are the standard sizes for hoarding boards?

While hoarding boards are usually custom-made to fit your site’s specific dimensions, the most common standard panel size is 1220mm x 2440mm (4ft x 8ft). Larger sizes such as 3050mm x 1500mm (10ft x 5ft) are also available. Custom sizes can be produced upon request.

What kind of designs work best on hoarding boards?

Bold, clear, and high-contrast designs with minimal text often work best on hoarding boards. Your design should convey your message effectively from a distance.

Bold, high-contrast designs with minimal text are most effective for hoarding boards. Since hoarding is often viewed from a distance, it’s important that your message is clear and easy to read. Vibrant colours and large fonts can enhance visibility and impact. Check our tips here.

What's the typical turnaround time for printing hoarding boards?

Our standard turnaround time is 5-6 working days from the time the design is approved. If you need your hoarding boards sooner, contact us to discuss expedited options.

What type of finish is best for hoarding boards?

A matte finish is often recommended for outdoor hoarding boards to reduce glare, ensuring the design remains visible in various lighting conditions. We also offer gloss, matte, and anti-graffiti finishes for extra protection and longevity, especially in high-traffic or vulnerable areas.

Can I order custom sizes for hoarding boards?

Yes, we can produce hoarding boards in custom sizes to suit your specific needs. Just contact us with your dimensions, and we’ll provide a quote based on your requirements.

Do I need any permission to install hoarding boards?

Yes, installing hoarding boards usually requires permission from your local council or municipality, especially if they are placed on public property or construction sites. Be sure to check your local regulations before installation.

What is the best material for hoarding signage?

We recommend either Dibond or PVC foam panels. Dibond is an aluminium composite material known for its strength and durability, ideal for long-term outdoor use. PVC foam panels are a cost-effective option, especially for short-term or indoor projects.

How many hoarding panels will I need for my site?

To calculate the number of hoarding panels you’ll need, divide the total linear metres of the area by the width of the panels (usually 1.2 metres). For example, if you need to cover 10 linear metres, you would need approximately 9 panels (rounding up).

Can you design and install my hoarding panels?

Yes, we offer both design and installation services. Our design team can help create a custom layout that meets your needs, and our installation experts ensure everything is securely fitted to your site.

Do I need an anti-graffiti laminate?

An anti-graffiti laminate is recommended for hoarding boards in areas prone to vandalism. While it won’t prevent graffiti, it allows spray paint or permanent marker to be easily removed using the appropriate cleaner.

What are headers and kickers on hoarding boards?

Headers and kickers are protective frames that run along the top and bottom edges of hoarding boards. They enhance security by deterring climbers, protect the boards from dirt and damage, and help improve the overall appearance of the hoarding.

Our Guarantee

Buying banners in confidence

Every BannerWorld order goes through several checks before it reaches production. Although most of our ordering system is automated, our team still checks each order manually before it is printed. If we spot a problem or have a question, we will contact you before manufacturing begins.

Our standard turnaround is 5 to 6 working days to delivery, and most products are also available on an express service. Some express products can also be produced on our super express service, with delivery in 1 to 2 working days.

How Your Order Is Processed

File checking is standard on every order, at no extra cost. We make sure your artwork matches what you have ordered, so you can order knowing mistakes will be caught early. If anything is unclear, we will get in touch before going any further.

Step 1: Initial Artwork Check

When your order arrives, we cross-reference your artwork against it. We check that the artwork sizes and file types match the order and that we have the correct number of files for the job. If anything looks wrong or a file is missing, we put the order on hold and contact you straight away.

Step 2: Order Processing

Once your order passes the initial check, we gather all the job details, including material type and finishing. This information is sent with your artwork to our pre-press department.

Step 3: Pre-Press and Second Check

Pre-press is the stage before printing. Here your artwork is converted into the correct format for our printers and finishing equipment. This gives us a second chance to catch any problems, and if we find one, we will contact you again.

Step 4: Printing and Tracking

Your job is batched with other items printed on the same material. Each item is given a unique code that tracks it through our factory and confirms the correct material, quantity and finishing at every stage. Your order then goes to print.

Step 5: Finishing

Every job is different, whether in size, material, shape or finishing, and each one is finished exactly as specified on your order. A banner with hems and eyelets is made in a different way to a flag with a pole pocket, so each finishing process is set up to suit the product. We automate as much of this as possible using our pre-press data, which keeps labour costs down and lets us pass the savings on to you.

Step 6: Packing

Finished items move to our packing department, where your order is collated and every item is checked off against it using the order code system. Your goods are then wrapped and packed ready for despatch.

Step 7: Delivery

Our logistics team arranges delivery of your order. Most orders are sent by next day courier, and large volume orders may go on a dedicated courier.
