Air Mesh vs Standard PVC Mesh Banners

While both materials are designed for outdoor use, PVC air mesh banners offer greater airflow due to their wider perforations. This makes them better suited to very windy or exposed locations.

  • Air Mesh Banners: Maximum airflow, best for high wind areas and large-scale installations
  • Standard Mesh Banners: Smaller holes, slightly better print clarity, suitable for moderate wind conditions

If your banner will be installed on scaffolding, high buildings or open fencing, air mesh is usually the safer and more durable option.

PVC Air Mesh Banner Finishing Options

All PVC air mesh banners are supplied hemmed and eyeleted as standard, reinforced with heavy-duty webbing for strength and durability.

PVC Air Mesh Banner Installation Guide

For larger banners (typically over 25 square metres), we recommend a professional site survey to assess wind loading and ensure the correct fixing method is used.

Large installations such as building wraps are usually secured directly to scaffolding using bungee shock cord. This allows controlled movement in windy conditions while maintaining a secure fit.

Where scaffolding is not available, banners can be mounted using a tensioned wire cable frame with a criss-cross bungee system. This provides flexibility and reduces stress on the material during strong winds.

For smaller applications such as Heras fence banners, simple cable ties provide a quick and effective installation solution.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will you check if my artwork is suitable?

Yes we do check for suitability. We check for quality and sizing issues, but it is up to you to supply artwork correctly as we cannot be held responsible for your mistakes.

Will you send a parcel in plain wrap?

As standard everything is sent plain wrap. We do not brand any of our parcels inside or outside.

Why would I choose an air mesh banner?

Air mesh is a better solution to standard mesh in high wind areas. Air mesh reduces wind loading by 50% as apposed to standard mesh.

What eyelets do you use?

Nickel plated eyelets with 12mm centre holes. Our eyelets will be evenly spaced around the banner every 500mm as standard.

What is a reinforced hem?

A reinforced hem adds additional reinforcement webbing to all edges of the banners to give extra strength and durability.

Can I have a fire certificate?

Yes. Our PVC AirMesh is flame retardant to comply with all EU/UK regulations. We have had our PVC AirMesh Banner tested after printing to BS5867-2:2008:Type B

What is the difference between Air Mesh and Standard Mesh?

Air mesh has larger holes than the standard 330gsm mesh. This allows more wind to pass through.  This is more suited to large banners in exposed areas.

What is the weight of Air Mesh?

Air Mesh PVC is 235gsm (grams per square metre) This means a banner at 10m x 5m is only around 12kg in weight.  This means large banners are easier to handle & install as well as holding up to strong winds.

Will welded joins be visible?

There will be some degree of visibility of welded joins on mesh but for most this isn’t an issue as the banners are large and designed to be viewed at a relative distance.

Do you have any wind load specification?

235gsm Air Mesh PVC has an air permeability of 6200 l/m2 per second. We do have technical data sheets available to download on request

What is the recommended fixing methods to scaffolding?

There are a few options available depending on the size of your banner. Smaller mesh banners can have pole pockets on them which you can use scaffold tube connected to the main frame of the scaffold. Hem and Eyelets is also a good option which allows you to use cable ties or bungee ties. For larger banners we recommend hem & eyelets with reinforced hem and then fasten to the scaffold using long bungee cord. Many installers weave the cord in zig zag formation through the eyelets and onto the frame of the scaffold. It is important to measure fixing area accurately prior to ordering.

Fire Certificate Information

This material type has been tested for flame retardancy to UK and EU regulation standards.

We are unable to produce individual test certificates for each bespoke item.

Every BannerWorld order goes through several checks before it reaches production. Although most of our ordering system is automated, our team still checks each order manually before it is printed. If we spot a problem or have a question, we will contact you before manufacturing begins.

Our standard turnaround is 5 to 6 working days to delivery, and most products are also available on an express service. Some express products can also be produced on our super express service, with delivery in 1 to 2 working days.

How Your Order Is Processed

File checking is standard on every order, at no extra cost. We make sure your artwork matches what you have ordered, so you can order knowing mistakes will be caught early. If anything is unclear, we will get in touch before going any further.

Step 1: Initial Artwork Check

When your order arrives, we cross-reference your artwork against it. We check that the artwork sizes and file types match the order and that we have the correct number of files for the job. If anything looks wrong or a file is missing, we put the order on hold and contact you straight away.

Step 2: Order Processing

Once your order passes the initial check, we gather all the job details, including material type and finishing. This information is sent with your artwork to our pre-press department.

Step 3: Pre-Press and Second Check

Pre-press is the stage before printing. Here your artwork is converted into the correct format for our printers and finishing equipment. This gives us a second chance to catch any problems, and if we find one, we will contact you again.

Step 4: Printing and Tracking

Your job is batched with other items printed on the same material. Each item is given a unique code that tracks it through our factory and confirms the correct material, quantity and finishing at every stage. Your order then goes to print.

Step 5: Finishing

Every job is different, whether in size, material, shape or finishing, and each one is finished exactly as specified on your order. A banner with hems and eyelets is made in a different way to a flag with a pole pocket, so each finishing process is set up to suit the product. We automate as much of this as possible using our pre-press data, which keeps labour costs down and lets us pass the savings on to you.

Step 6: Packing

Finished items move to our packing department, where your order is collated and every item is checked off against it using the order code system. Your goods are then wrapped and packed ready for despatch.

Step 7: Delivery

Our logistics team arranges delivery of your order. Most orders are sent by next day courier, and large volume orders may go on a dedicated courier.
